According to the latest research published by Elsevier, the Iran University of Science & Technology, with 68 researchers included in the list of top 2% most-cited researchers in the world in 2024, ranks first among the country’s industrial universities.

In the 8th edition of this research by Elsevier—which is conducted annually using Scopus data, and whose latest edition was published on 19 September 2025—236,313 international researchers across all disciplines and those in the top 2% of their scientific domains were identified and introduced.

Elsevier has created a standardized data base on citations, h-index, article citations and a composite indicator. This research classifies researchers into 5 main subject areas, 22 sub‐areas and 174 fields. The condition for a researcher to be included in the ranking process was publication of at least 5 articles.
